Frozen food can help those on a budget eat organic food, one expert has claimed.

In an article for the Huffington Post, Robyn O'Brien said organic goods can be pricey, so buying frozen food can help reduce shopping bills.

"Frozen foods (like strawberries and fish) are cheaper than those that are delivered fresh. So if the prices on fresh produce are eye-popping, cruise on over to the frozen food aisle for a discount," she added.

Ms O'Brien also advised individuals to eat foods that are in season, because produce grown locally is normally cheaper to buy than those shipped or flown in.

Furthermore, the writer also indicated people may want to consider growing their own fruit and vegetables.

She explained it is easier than it looks and cultivating something like a tomato plant can be inspiring.

Writer for the Herald-Mail Lynne Little recently suggested consumers buy frozen foods in bulk when they are on offer as it saves time and money.

Frozen for freshness.
