First Impressions

First impressions count for a lot. How many times has your opinion of someone or somewhere been massively influenced by your first impression? What was your first impression of apetito? We asked new starters from across the company for theirs.

Neil Emery, Head of Customer Services & Distribution (based at Portbury)

When I was looking around, apetito caught my eye because it's a growing company, and when I came for an interview I felt the company was going somewhere; there was a strong sense of drive for growth.  Also I knew I wanted to move to a company which was serious about delivering excellent customer service and that was apparent too at the interview stage.  What has really surprised me in the few months I've been here is the accessibility and visibility of the senior management - that's really refreshing.

Rod McCleod, Head of Operations for apetito Services

I've now been with the company for 5 months and the thing that I think really sets apetito apart is the fantastic company culture.  I know my job has some challenges ahead, and I'm excited by these and really inspired by working with good people who care about the jobs they do - this means a lot in the sector we work in.

Louise Gray, started as a driver at Croydon and within a couple of months was promoted to weekend supervisor

I was really nervous on my first day, petrified in fact, but I was really made to feel at ease. The thing I remember most is that the modules I had to learn were really clear and explained everything very well, which made it easy to learn. The training was excellent, and done in a very relaxed way in a jokey atmosphere which made me feel quite confident.

(Each driver working in Services has to work through a series of training modules covering things like ‘what to do if you find a customer ill and how to use the Chefmobil - there are seven modules in total)

Laura Kinnaird, Customer Service Advisor, Portbury

‘I have family who work for apetito so I knew it was a good company to work for. Also the hours were very accommodating as I have a 7 year old son. I've always worked with people - I was a hairdresser, then a home care assistant, so definitely wanted to work with people and a customer service role really interested me. I've just done some training this week, and everyone here has been so friendly and helpful'.

Ebtissam Boutarfas, New Media Technical Support

I joined apetito from Vodafone. My job is completely new so it's a challenge and quite exciting. I'm working mainly on the website for Wiltshire Farm Foods, it's a trainee role and I'm getting a lot of support. It's good...

Joyce Stubbs, Accounts Team, Trowbridge

I started as a temp and was really pleased to take up a full-time, permanent job. It's a nice company to work for - I knew that because I've got family who work here too - and everyone is so friendly.
