Mini Kitchen
We've done our homework
At apetito, we recognise the challenges faced in school meal provision within primary schools, and are aware that as any as 20% of primary schools in the UK have no kitchen facilities at all.
Our unique range of products have been developed with school children, school caterers and parents in mind. Extensive research and product trials have been carried out to ensure that not only do Catering Managers love our food, but most importantly, children love it too!
Cooking our products is as easy as A, B, C...
Cooking our products is quick, easy and convenient. Meals are taken straight from the freezer and baked in any conventional oven or trolley, keeping costs and space requirements to a minimum.
The simplicity of our cook freeze system allows any school to offer a hot, tasty and nutritious meal every day. You can trust apetito to come up with a mini kitchen concept to maximise pupil feeding potential in any school.
Excellent food time after time
apetito produces a range of school meals to achieve the nutrient based standards for primary schools, effective September 2008. This great range of products is cooked from frozen, and having an apetito Mini Kitchen ensures that children get the same excellent piping hot meal time after time.
Saving on transport costs
Some schools without in-house kitchen facilities require meals delievered in from other school kitchens in insulated boxes.
This has proved unsatisfactory for a number of reasons:
- High cost of labour and vehicles, ie taxi cabs
- Insulated boxes lose temperature quickly
- Food quality and nutritonal values deteriorate rapidly
- Deliveries can be affected by issues such as weather
Save on labour costs
The apetito Mini Kitchen is extremely easy to use as the food is already prepared and has clear instructions on the packaging - all that needs to be done is to load the oven, turn on one switch and the oven does the rest. This system can be operated by anyone with basic food hygiene skills. The system will reduce labour costs by significantly reducing the amount of food preperation time.
Equipment and servicing costs
With an apetito Mini Kitchen you do not require a wide range of equipment such as ranges, steamers, combination ovens or even fryers. All that you need is a freezer, a fridge, a suitably sized regeneration oven or trolley and a wash up area. Kitchen sizes can be reduced dramatically and made to measure according to the number of children they must serve, so even schools with very restricted kitchen space can utilise this system.
Saving on energy
The regeneration equipment can be electrically tailored to suit the needs of the customer or kitchen site, as most ovens can work on 13 amp plugs. The regeneration time is usually around 60 minutes and there is no need for equipment to be switched on before needed. This can save an immense amount of money in terms of gas, water and electric required for conventional cooking methods.
Helping the environment
All the products in the apetito primary schools range are packed using recyclable materials which helps the environment. Using a regeneration oven also saves on gas emissions, and because of faster cooking times, savings on electricity requirements in the kitchen are made. Using this system reduces the need for deliveries of other ingredients saving on food miles, waste, packaging and storage.
